A local guide to Virginia Water

Virginia Water in Surrey is undoubtedly one of the local area’s wealthiest villages, thanks to the influence of the incredibly affluent Wentworth Estate within its borders.

House prices within the 1750 acre Wentworth Estate regularly top the £1million mark, while those for properties in other parts of the area tend to be priced far higher than the national average.

As well as featuring some of the most expensive properties in the local area, the estate is also home to the world-renowned Wentworth Club and its four golf courses.

The village takes its name from the large man-made lake in nearby Windsor Great Park – a tourist attraction that brings visitors from far and wide to the village during the warmer weather.

As well as seasonal tourists, the area is popular with commuters because it’s close to the M25 and M3 motorways, and features a railway station that connects the area with London Waterloo, Weybridge and Reading.

In addition, the A30 road, which runs parallel to the area, also means that places such as Camberley, Basingstoke, Sunninghill and Old Windsor are also in easy reach.

Leading to the station are two busy shopping parades (Station Road and Station Approach) that are home to a good mix of amenities, including the local library, a dentist and a convenience store.

Meanwhile, for residents who like to treat themselves, these shopping thoroughfares are also home to several restaurants, a couple of beauty salons and specialist food and wine stores.

Although, shoppers unable to find what they are looking for in Virginia Water usually make use of the shopping facilities available at nearby Ascot, Staines or Windsor.
